ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare and transmits bi-weekly payroll
- Oversees recruitment, onboarding, and orientation process
- Assists with employee relations matters and handles with professionalism and discretion, including investigations, disputes, and disciplinary processes
- Assures correct documentation for disciplinary action is obtained and witness employee counseling sessions when requested
- Maintain HR compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
- Create and manage accurate employee information and files
- Administers unemployment claims; including preparation of responses and participation in hearings
- Administers Benefit programs such as medical, dental, 401(k), vacation and sick time, COBRA, and leaves of absence
- Responds to benefit inquiries on plan provisions, benefit enrollments, status changes and other general inquiries
- Administers workers compensation including requests for completion of First Notice of injury, written statements of witnesses and reporting and working with insurance carrier through closure
- Assists Human Resources department in ensuring supervisors and managers practice fair, consistent and equal treatment of all employees

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Strong knowledge of California labor laws and employment regulations
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities
Customer-service oriented
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field
3-5 years' experience in a Human Resources role
2 -3 years' experience in Payroll and Benefits administration
Experience with Ultimate Software strongly preferred
Experience in a restaurant or hospitality environment preferred
