Arcosa seeks a Human Resources Manager to serve at our Arcosa Shoring Products facility in our Union City, MI facility. Operating within a broader enterprise HR model, this role is responsible for executing programs at the facility level, while ensuring alignment with business unit and corporate strategies. The Human Resources Manager serves as the primary HR leader for a single heavy industrial manufacturing facility operating multiple shifts. This role is responsible for delivering full-spectrum HR support to hourly and salaried employees and partnering closely with plant leadership to drive a safe, compliant, engaged, and high-performing workforce.
The HR Manager acts as a trusted advisor to leaders and employees, ensuring consistent application of HR policies, labor and employment compliance, and alignment with business objectives in a fast-paced, operational environment.
What Youll Do:
Serve as the primary on-site HR leader for the facility, supporting hourly and salaried employees across multiple shifts
Partner with plant leadership to align HR strategies with operational goals, workforce planning, safety, and business performance
Act as a trusted advisor to leaders on employee relations, performance management, discipline, and workplace concerns
Lead employee relations activities, including investigations, conflict resolution, corrective action, and policy interpretation
Coach and support supervisors and managers on effective people management, documentation, and consistent policy application
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEOC, OSHA, and state requirements
Manage full-cycle recruiting for hourly and salaried roles to meet staffing needs in a multi-shift manufacturing environment
Oversee onboarding and orientation to support safety, engagement, and early retention
Administer performance management processes, including goal setting, evaluations, and employee development support
Support compensation practices, wage administration, job levels, benefits, leaves of absence, attendance, and timekeeping
Maintain accurate HR records, reporting, and documentation in accordance with company policy and legal requirements
Champion company values and foster a positive, inclusive, and safety-focused work environment
Maintain a visible presence on the plant floor to build trust, credibility, and strong employee relationships across all shifts
Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local employment laws.
What Youll Need:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
Minimum of 5+ years of progressive HR experience, with a strong preference for manufacturing, industrial, or plant-based environments
Demonstrated experience serving as the primary or lead HR professional at a facility or business unit
Extensive experience supporting hourly workforces and multiple-shift operations
Strong working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEOC, OSHA, and wage and hour compliance
Proven ability to independently manage employee relations matters, including investigations, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution
Experience partnering with frontline supervisors and plant leadership to drive effective people management practices
Hands-on experience with recruiting and staffing for hourly and salaried roles in a high-demand labor environment
Working knowledge of performance management processes, coaching, and employee development practices
Practical experience administering compensation, benefits, leave programs, attendance, and timekeeping
Strong judgment, discretion, and ability to handle confidential matters professionally
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, operational environment with regular presence on the plant floor and flexibility to support multiple shifts
Frequent day travel to other Michigan facilities, and occasional domestic travel, as needed (less than 25%)
