JOB DESCRIPTION: RETAIL RECRUITER

Position Summary

The Retail Recruiter reports to the Talent Acquisition Manager and provides dedicated recruitment support for assigned Goodwill SELA retail locations and serves as a key recruitment partner to Store Managers throughout the hiring process.

The Retail Recruiter also works collaboratively with the District Manager and Senior HR Business Partner assigned to the region to understand staffing needs, establish hiring priorities, respond to recruitment challenges, and ensure hiring activity is aligned with approved position control through the VP of Human Resources.

The position will initially focus on applicant review, candidate pre-screening, interview scheduling, candidate communication and follow-up, and complete management of candidates and hiring workflows within the Applicant Tracking System.

This is an evolving position. As the Talent Acquisition function grows and develops, responsibilities may expand to include proactive sourcing, hiring events, talent pipeline development, recruitment marketing, and additional full-cycle recruitment responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review applications for assigned retail locations in a timely and consistent manner.
  • Conduct initial candidate pre-screens to assess minimum qualifications, employment history, availability, interest, and overall suitability.
  • Identify and refer qualified candidates to Store Managers for interviews.
  • Coordinate and schedule interviews between qualified candidates and Store Managers.
  • Maintain timely and professional communication with candidates throughout the recruitment process.
  • Conduct candidate follow-up and provide appropriate updates regarding next steps.
  • Take ownership of candidate movement and hiring workflows within the ATS for assigned locations.
  • Ensure candidate statuses are accurate and updated throughout the recruitment process.
  • Appropriately disposition candidates who are not selected.
  • Partner with the District Manager and Senior HR Business Partner for the assigned region to understand current and anticipated staffing needs.
  • Support established regional hiring priorities and ensure recruitment efforts are aligned with approved position control.
  • Maintain awareness of position-control approvals from the VP of Human Resources before initiating recruitment activity.
  • Monitor applicant pipelines and identify locations or positions experiencing recruitment challenges.
  • Maintain regular communication with Store Managers regarding applicant activity, qualified candidates, scheduled interviews, and current hiring needs.
  • Provide recruitment updates to the Talent Acquisition Manager and regional partners as appropriate.
  • Escalate difficult-to-fill positions or significant staffing concerns to the Talent Acquisition Manager
  • Assist with hiring events, job fairs, community recruitment activities, and other talent-attraction initiatives.
  • Support the development of candidate pipelines for frequently hired retail positions.
  • Assist with proactive candidate sourcing as recruitment needs and priorities evolve.
  • Maintain confidentiality and ensure recruitment practices remain consistent with organizational policies and applicable employment requirements.
  • Provide a positive, responsive, and professional experience for candidates and hiring managers.
  • Perform additional recruitment responsibilities as the position and Talent Acquisition function continue to evolve.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years of professional recruitment experience required.
  • Experience with high-volume, retail, staffing, hospitality, healthcare, nonprofit, or other fast-paced recruitment environments preferred.
  • Hands-on experience using an Applicant Tracking System strongly preferred.
  • Strong candidate screening and interviewing skills.
  • Experience partnering with hiring managers, operational leaders, and HR professionals preferred.
  • Excellent communication, follow-up, and relationship-building abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple candidates, positions, hiring managers, and priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively as part of the Talent Acquisition and Human Resources team.
  • Strong commitment to providing a positive and professional candidate experience.
  • Ability to adapt to an evolving position and assume additional recruitment responsibilities as organizational needs change.

Compensation

Salary Range: $45,000–$50,000 annually
