Essential skills and requirements include:
· Effective interpersonal and communication skills working with all levels within the organization, discretion, attention to detail, organized, and effective time management skills, ability to shift gears quickly, and to understand the priorities and culture of the organization.
· Experience with HRIS systems (NetSuite preferred)
· Understanding the challenges with a small but growing company serving as the sole HR practitioner.
· Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
· Four to six years of experience as a generalist and/or the sole HR staff member
· Experience working in a manufacturing operation preferred.
· SHRM membership and certification preferred
HUMAN RESOURCE (HR) GENERALIST
· Records management – managing and maintaining employee files and records, ensuring I 9 documents and other forms are completed and in compliance. Assisting managers with OSHA logs and reports as needed. Developing procedures or protocols as needed. May be involved in identifying new or updated HRIS systems for data management and/or expansion.
· Recruitment – assisting hiring managers by developing job ads from job descriptions, posting and screening candidates, coordinating interviews and the hiring process including conducting reference checks and preparing offer letters. Will manage temporary labor through staffing agency.
· Onboarding – coordinating new hire process including paperwork, completing required I 9 and E-Verify process as well the NC Hire forms. Outlining policies in the Handbook and information outlining benefits available. Working with payroll staff to ensure all information is available and maintained in the system. May be involved in onboarding employees when companies are acquired or merged with Walex.
· Benefits administration – meeting with employees to complete all paperwork after waiting period, working with brokers to ensure records are accurate, assisting in benefit offerings and costs prior to open enrollment, coordinating open enrollment meetings and completion of new benefits forms annually. Ensure accurate information is input and conduct annual audits to validate employee records. May be involved in assisting management staff with review of benefits with potential companies that may be merged or acquired.
· Employee Relations – assisting managers with employee issues (performance, non-compliance, etc.), maintaining and updating Employee Handbook, providing first contact for general HR questions from employees, serving as witness in disciplinary or termination discussions, documenting same.
· FMLA, Unemployment and Workers’ Compensation Administration – serving as primary contact for programs including documentation, follow-up, record-keeping and working with carriers and/or attorneys as needed.
· Compliance – ensuring organization is in compliance with labor laws, and completes and/or updates materials/forms as required.
· Training – assisting with development of training programs for managers and supervisors as needed. May conduct basic training for all employees as needed.
· Payroll – serving as back-up for Payroll staff when needed.
