Description

The Human Resources Specialist performs professional-level human resources functions supporting recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, compliance reporting, employee records management, Title IX investigations, and payroll support. Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the Specialist ensures accurate execution of HR processes and provides technical expertise in day-to-day HR operations. This position exercises independent judgment within established policies and procedures and serves as a key operational resource to employees and supervisors.

Job Duties

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Recruitment & Onboarding Administration

  • Prepare and post job announcements; coordinate advertising and applicant tracking
  • Receive and screen applications for completeness; maintain applicant files
  • Schedule interviews and serve as HR representative on search committees as assigned
  • Coordinate student employment processes, including position postings, hour tracking, and onboarding
  • Conduct new hire processing and orientation, ensuring completion of employment documentation and benefit enrollment

Employee Records & Status Administration

  • Process forms for employee status changes (new hires, promotions, reclassifications, separations, leaves)
  • Maintain personnel files and HRIS records to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Coordinate annual review processes and update position profiles
  • Conduct exit processing and related documentation

Benefits & Payroll Support

  • Administer day-to-day benefit enrollment and updates with insurance carriers
  • Respond to employee benefit inquiries and provide follow-up support
  • Audit monthly benefit invoices and prepare for Director approval
  • Provide payroll support, including time and attendance administration and system updates

Compliance & Reporting Support

  • Prepare and submit required government reports under Director oversight
  • Maintain required postings and documentation for compliance audits
  • Serve as FOIA Coordinator
  • Serve as Lead Title IX Investigator, conducting investigations, interviews, evidence review, and preparation of findings, under oversight of the Title IX Coordinator (Director)

Employee Support

  • Provide information and guidance to employees and supervisors regarding policies, procedures, and contract provisions
  • Escalate complex employee relations matters to the Director as appropriate

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

  • Ensure commitment to the highest business ethics
  • Protect confidential information and communicate with impeccable discretion in all matters related to Human Resources. This requires that sensitive information never be divulged to the wrong parties
  • Maintain and safeguard equipment, software, and facility areas
  • Comply with College policies and procedures
  • Maintain a safe work environment
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Demonstrated experience in human resources operations, records management, or benefits administration

Compensation

Salary starting at or above $51,693, commensurate with skills/experience
