Description of Work
Unleash your potential and make an impact! The Department of Public Safety (DPS) is currently accepting applications for a Human Resources Specialist II position. This position is located with Emergency Management (NCEM) division in Raleigh, N.C. (Wake County).
The Human Resources Specialist II position will provide consultation, technical assistance, and support to NCEM leadership, management, and employees on a wide variety of issues relating to recruitment and outreach initiatives. Specific responsibilities include:

The employee in this position is expected to use sound judgment in the interpretation and application of appropriate human resource related policies and procedures of NCEM, the Department of Public Safety, and/or the Office of State Human Resources (OSHR).
During State Emergency Response Team (SERT) Activation the employee in the position may be required to work in any disaster response/recovery role as designated by the SERT Leader. Employees may be required to work more than 8 during normal workdays and 12 hours during the weekends and holidays and during adverse weather conditions.

The mission of North Carolina Emergency Management is to enhance North Carolina's resiliency through active collaboration, communication, and coordination of protection, prevention, mitigation, response and recovery measures.
About the Central Services Section:
The primary mission of Central Services is to provide effective and efficient support functions for the Division and external clients. These functions include Accounts Payable, Budget, SERT Finance, Compliance, Human Resources, Preparedness Grants Management, Information Technology Infrastructure, Application Development, Geospatial Information Systems, Salesforce Administration, Fleet Management, Distribution, Contracting, Purchasing, Logistics Support, and Responder Assistance Initiative clinical services.

Recruitment Range: $41,206.00 - $69,000.00

This is a full time TIME-LIMITED position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits. We value our employees and are committed to providing flexibility in work schedules. This position qualifies for teleworking on a part-time basis as part of the State Telework Program.
DPS uses the Merit-Based Recruitment and Selection Plan to fill positions subject to the State Human Resources Act with the most qualified individuals.
