About the Position
This Non-State (X-16) position is located in the Human Resources Department at the MSP. This supervisory position functions in an independent manner, performing a variety of complex and difficult professional HR generalist duties such as position classification, position management, recruitment, training, benefits, employee selection processes, and salary determination. Jobs at this level function as liaisons between internal divisions, departments, or sub-agencies, and executive staff regarding recruitment and selection, classification and compensation, promotion and transfer, employee relations, budgetary and staffing needs, and other personnel transactions. Employee supervision includes hire recommendations; training; work planning, assignments, and review; and performance assessment, coaching, and progressive discipline. Supervision at this level also requires these positions to have the knowledge and skills to perform and review the work overseen.
What youll need to be Successful
Must be able to abide by the MS State Personnel Board and MDOC rules, regulations, and procedures governing the workplace. The ability to adapt quickly, be courteous, and maintain strict confidentiality. Excellent computer skills in MS Office Suite, including Outlook, Access, Power Point, Word and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
Typically requires a Bachelors degree and 5+ years of experience. - Hiring Agency Prefers: Knowledge of SPAHRS/Magic is a plus. NOTE Applicants with High School diploma/GED or "some college" would need to submit a letter to MSPB Subpanel for experience to be considered in lieu of the education requirement. Paid Personal Leave and Sick Leave
Full-time employees receive paid time off for personal needs and for sick leave. Leave begins accruing after one month of employment and may be used as it is accrued. Employees earn approximately 18 days of personal leave annually and 12 days of sick leave annually.

In accordance with federal law, all employees serving in the armed forces or the military reserves are entitled to 15 days per year for military training.
