Definition
Under general supervision, to provide specialized confidential administrative support to the Human resources department; to collect and prepare materials used in employer-employee relations, collective bargaining negotiations, and grievance proceedings; to compose advertising copy for job announcements and place advertisements; to process new employees including paperwork, orientation and benefits enrollment; to coordinate recruitment efforts; to provide customer service; and to perform related duties as assigned.
Distinguishing Characteristics
The ideal candidate will have a bachelors degree in human resources, business, public administration, or a related field, and/or equivalent experience working in a human resources department. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, exceptional interpersonal and customer service abilities, and a commitment to providing responsive, high-quality support to employees, applicants, and campus community members. This position is primarily responsible for coordinating the District's recruitment and hiring processes including managing the applicant tracking system, NeoEd and implementing changes to streamline the processes. As such, the ideal candidate will have excellent attention to detail, a high degree of accuracy, and a strong sense of personal accountability. They will be able to effectively prioritize competing responsibilities, manage multiple recruitments and projects simultaneously, and consistently follow through on assignments in a timely manner. The Human Resources Office is a dynamic, fast-paced environment that requires flexibility, adaptability, and sound judgment. The successful candidate will thrive in an environment with frequent interruptions, shifting priorities, and time-sensitive deadlines while maintaining professionalism, organization, and a high level of customer service. They will demonstrate strong follow-up skills, the ability to anticipate next steps, and a commitment to ensuring tasks are completed accurately and efficiently. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, able to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team and committed to maintaining confidentiality while exercising discretion in handling sensitive information. Desirable qualifications include experience using Ellucian Banner HR/Payroll or a comparable Human Resources Information System (HRIS), experience coordinating recruitment and onboarding processes, and a working knowledge of California employment laws, regulations, and human resources practices, preferably within a California Community College or other public sector environment.

Part-time employees who work an average of 25 hours per week over the course of a year, may choose to receive benefits on a pro-rated basis.
