Job Summary

FIRST AND FOREMOST THE POSITION IS RESPONSIBLE FOR TAKING CARE OF MARINES, SAILORS AND THEIR FAMILIES.

Major Duties

Generalist position that performs various Human Resources functions in assigned areas, including developing job vacancy announcements, attending recruiting and other events, reviewing job applications, determining eligibility or evaluating the applicants qualifications according to established policies and procedures. Provides assistance in administering the employee benefits program, i.e. Group Health, Dental & Life Insurance, 401(K) Savings Plan, Group Retirement Plan, Workers Compensation, Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Leave Donations, and Employee Performance Awards Program. Processes and maintains accurate and detailed records necessary to implement and track employee and benefit related matters. Maintains a high degree of contact with employees and supervisors, providing advice and assistance regarding policies, procedures, employee benefits and compensation, and other employee programs. Conducts research and explains complicated employee benefit related issues such as health benefits conversion, annuity calculations, creditable service and similar information. Conducts new hire orientation classes, briefings, and various seminars.

Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Acknowledges customers, smiles and makes eye contact. Asks questions to determine, verify and solve problems. Checks for satisfaction on the quality of goods and services. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise.

Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Uses required safety equipment and observes safe work procedures. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Must have at least three years of HR generalist experience in multiple functional areas such as talent acquisition, benefits administration, data entry, and new hire orientation. Knowledge of employment law and HRIS database maintenance. Must have the ability to plan, organize, and complete complex personnel operations. Must possess excellent customer service and computer skills. Must be able to work in a fast pace demanding work environment while maintaining a high level of attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to manage multiple tasks, and the flexibility to adapt with changing requirements. Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Bachelors degree in human resources, business management, or closely related field highly preferred. This is a white-collar position where occasional lifting up to 20 lbs. may be required. Position may require occasional evening and weekend work.
