    Job Description

Seeking a detail-oriented and mission-driven Licensing Technician to join a team dedicated to protecting the health, safety, and well-being of vulnerable populations in child residential, child day treatment, and mental health programs. This role offers a unique opportunity to make a direct impact on the quality of care provided across a wide range of facilities by ensuring they meet and maintain compliance with state laws and regulations. It is an ideal position for professionals who are passionate about accountability, advocacy, and improving standards within human services and healthcare environments.

In this role, you will conduct a variety of inspections, including initial, annual, monitoring, and complaint-driven investigations, to assess whether facilities are operating in accordance with regulatory requirements. You will work with a high degree of independence, using critical thinking and professional judgment to evaluate compliance, investigate incidents, and determine appropriate next steps. Your work will play a key role in identifying risks, addressing concerns, and ensuring that individuals receiving services are in safe and supportive environments.

This position goes beyond routine inspections and offers the opportunity to be actively involved in complex and meaningful situations. You may investigate alleged illegal operations, respond to critical incidents, and assist in the relocation of residents from non compliant or unsafe facilities. In these situations, you will collaborate with agencies, providers, and stakeholders to identify appropriate alternative placements and ensure continuity of care. This hands-on involvement allows you to influence outcomes directly and improve the lives of individuals in vulnerable circumstances.

You will also serve as a key resource for licensed providers, offering technical guidance and support to help them understand and comply with regulations. By building professional relationships with agencies, medical professionals, and other stakeholders, you will contribute to a system focused on continuous improvement and accountability. Additionally, you may be called upon to testify in administrative or court hearings, providing expert insight based on your findings and reinforcing the importance of regulatory compliance.

The role requires strong analytical and communication skills, as you will be responsible for reviewing medical, legal, and programmatic documentation, conducting interviews, and preparing detailed reports that support enforcement actions and licensing decisions. You will also monitor corrective action plans and ensure that identified deficiencies are addressed effectively. This combination of investigative work and documentation makes the position both intellectually engaging and professionally rewarding.

This opportunity is well-suited for individuals with a background in health or human services who are seeking a career that blends independence, fieldwork, and meaningful impact. You will manage responsibilities within an assigned geographic region while having the flexibility of a home-based office, with regular travel required to conduct inspections and meet with stakeholders. The role offers a dynamic work environment where no two days are the same, along with the chance to develop expertise in regulatory compliance, investigations, and program oversight.

Qualified candidates will have a background in health or human services, such as nursing, social work, psychology, or a related field, along with relevant experience that demonstrates the ability to carry out inspections, investigations, and regulatory analysis. A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel extensively are required, as is the ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
