General Description
The Orange County Social Services Department has an opening for a Human Services Supervisor I. An employee of this class is primarily responsible for managing a work unit in one program area while supervising the work of Human Services Coordinators, Human Services Specialists and Human Services Technicians. Supervision responsibilities include overseeing application processing, determination and re-determination of eligibility for one public assistance program.
This position is responsible for managing staff working in Employment Services. Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Human Services Supervisor II with some leeway to exercise independent judgment within the framework of applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures in the performance of duties, both in terms of planning and accomplishing work and in making decisions regarding client/family needs and requests. Supervision is a responsibility of this class. Does related work as required.
This position will be located at the Drakeford in Carrboro.
Hiring range is based on the Orange County Social Services Step Plan. The Step Plan is based on years of Human Services Supervisor I experience. Full credit is given for years of experience performing the same job functions. Partial credit is given for years of experience performing related job functions. The top half of the scale is reserved for career employees with senior level experience in the same role.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree in Social Work or other human services related field AND one (1) year of related experience in social services programs; OR
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Social Work or other human services related field AND three (3) years of related experience in social services programs; OR
Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience in Employment Services is preferred.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

The duties assigned during this time may vary from your regularly assigned duties. Assigned duties will be at the discretion of the Social Services Director.
