Essential Responsibilities:
Instruction and Teaching
- Teach assigned HVAC courses in areas such as refrigeration, heating, cooling, electrical systems, and building automation.
- Deliver instruction in traditional, blended, or online formats, including teaching high school students on campus.
- Follow approved course syllabi and ensure alignment with NCCCS and college standards.
- Maintain accurate student records, attendance, and submit grades by required deadlines.
- Use the college's Learning Management System to enhance instruction and communicate with students.
Student Engagement and Support
- Be accessible to students through email, phone, or in-person communication.
- Provide timely feedback and academic support to promote student success.
- Encourage completion of student evaluations and participation in college surveys.
Classroom and Lab Management
- Maintain a safe, clean, and effective learning environment.
- Ensure proper use and security of HVAC tools and equipment.
- Incorporate current industry practices and technology into instruction.
Assessment and Continuous Improvement
- Participate in course-level assessments and apply results to improve instruction.
- Ensure accessibility of course materials for all learners.
- Participate in required training and professional development.
- Comply with college policies, including FERPA and instructional standards.
- Communicate effectively and collaborate with faculty and staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned and other related duties incident to the work described herein.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree in HVAC or related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of related work experience in HVAC.
- Strong commitment to student success and academic excellence.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in related field
- EPA Refrigerant Certification or ability to obtain.
- Minimum of 5 years of related work experience in HVAC.
- Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience.
- NC HVAC License.
- Demonstrated experience in residential and commercial HVAC systems, building automation, and mechanical systems.
- Experience with instructional technology, preferably Canvas, and online teaching.
- Demonstrated experience with accreditation processes and program assessments.
Salary Range Adjunct Faculty Hourly Rate $31.79 to 38.30. Dependent upon education level.
