â HVAC Controls Technician – Commercial HVAC & BAS
Salary: Up to $55/hr + Bonuses
Experience: 3+ years in Commercial HVAC, Controls, (Niagara AX, N4 experience)
Availability: Full-time with optional overtime, on-call 1x per month

About the Role
We are seeking a mid-tier experienced HVAC / BAS Controls Technician to join our stable, growing company. This is a full-time position with a strong work-life balance, career growth opportunities, and a connected community culture. The role involves commercial heating, air conditioning, refrigeration, and control systems, with local travel only—NO overnight stays.
â Responsibilities
Install, repair, and maintain commercial heating, cooling, refrigeration, and control systems
HVAC Startup, Warranty, and Factory Support
Configure unit controllers and VFDs to match design intent and sequence of operations
Connect to VFDs and unit controllers via IP, perform testing operations and device addressing
This role does not require full programming expertise but goes beyond basic BAS graphical interface monitoring
Work with BAS systems to set up controls and address devices
Troubleshoot and maintain:
Cooling Towers, Heat Pumps, Split Systems, Rooftop Units (5-200 tons)
Pneumatic Control Systems, DDC Controls, Data Centers, and Server Rooms
Refrigeration systems and mission-critical HVAC systems
Interpret engineering drawings to understand system layout, location, and operation
Perform preventive maintenance inspections and report findings to the Service Coordinator
Check safety and limit controls to ensure proper system operation
Assist in change-outs of commercial rooftop packages up to 30 tons and split units
Maintain a strong commitment to workplace safety and compliance
Requirements
3+ years in commercial HVAC, controls, and refrigeration
Experience with boilers, chillers, pneumatic controls, digital controls, and packaged HVAC equipment
Universal EPA Certification required
OSHA 10 Certification required
Journeyman HVAC License preferred (but not required)
Experience with ABB ACH580 drives, direct drive fans, Allen Bradley Micro-Logix PLCs
Knowledge of Real-Time Energy Management (RTEM) systems
Comfortable working on 5-ton to 200-ton rooftop units under the supervision of a Lead Tech
Mechanical skills required to work on complex HVAC systems, including:
Fans, compressors, motor bearings, refrigeration circuits, burner setup, heat wheels
Moderate PC skills (Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Ability to lift & move 75 lbs and provide hand tools
Clean driving record
