Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit

Facilities Operations has the responsibility of providing a wide range of services to the entire UNCG campus. Services include all aspects of corrective and preventive maintenance, operations, grounds maintenance, housekeeping, utility infrastructure maintenance and operations, business operations, safety, regulator compliance, project management, and renovations. These duties are conducted for a campus consisting of 100 buildings totaling 6 million gross square feet on over 275 acres.

Position Summary

The primary purpose of this position is to operate, maintain, repair, and upgrade as directed the campus Building Automation System (BAS), other HVAC control equipment, and miscellaneous electronic systems. This position also assists with commissioning of building systems requiring the knowledge of refrigerant systems, control systems (pneumatic and DDC), hydronic and steam.

This position is also responsible for the scheduling of preventive and corrective maintenance in all areas of campus. This position has full responsibility for the operation and maintenance of all HVAC and refrigeration equipment on campus. Supervisor may assign other job- related duties not specifically listed under essential tasks.

This position is a mandatory position as defined in the Adverse Weather and Emergency Event Policy.

This position requires working an emergency call-back rotation and may be called in for emergency response during nights, weekends, and holidays.

Minimum Qualifications

ASSOCIATE'S DEGREE IN ELECTRONICS; OR EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE. ALL DEGREES MUST BE RECEIVED FROM APPROPRIATELY ACCREDITED INSTITUTIONS.

Additional Required Certifications, Licensures, and Certificates

Must have a valid driver's license and CFC Certification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Five (5) to seven (7) years of directly related experience with a minimum of an Associate's degree or two-year college equivalent preferred.
  • BAS Control experience.
