HVAC Controls Technician - Oklahoma
Optimize Oklahoma's commercial climate and energy efficiency! We are seeking a skilled HVAC Controls Technician to install, program, maintain, and troubleshoot Building Automation Systems (BAS) and Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems in retail, office, and institutional buildings. Position Overview
As an HVAC Controls Technician, you will handle controls installations in new construction and renovation projects, perform system commissioning, and swiftly diagnose automation network or mechanical control issues. You'll collaborate with general contractors, project managers, mechanical teams, and other trades to ensure each job meets local code requirements and client specifications.
This is a full-time, on-site role with opportunities for overtime and career advancement.
What You'll Do
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, control sequences, and technical diagrams
- Install, wire, and terminate controllers, sensors, actuators, and control panels
- Install, route, and support low-voltage wiring and necessary conduit or raceways
- Set up, configure, and commission Building Automation Systems (BAS) and Direct Digital Controls (DDC)
- Troubleshoot and repair faults in control networks, communication loops, and HVAC system integrations
- Perform preventive maintenance, calibrations, and system diagnostics on automation components
- Coordinate with project teams to sequence electrical and controls work alongside other trades
- Ensure compliance with NEC, local mechanical/electrical codes, and safety standards
- Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean, safe work area
What You Bring
- 3+ years of commercial HVAC controls or building automation experience
- Relevant HVAC/Electrical license or BAS manufacturer certifications preferred
- In-depth knowledge of DDC networks, HVAC systems, and low-voltage control schematics
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, testing equipment (multimeters), and diagnostic software/laptops
- Strong blueprint-reading, point-to-point checkout, and network troubleshooting skills
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork abilities
- Reliable attendance and a commitment to safety
Pay & Benefits
- Pay Range: $22.00 - $30.00 per hour (depending on experience)
- Shift: Day shift, Monday-Friday, with occasional overtime
