HVAC Data Center Service Technician

Overview

Join an established mechanical services company as a Data Center Service Technician. In this role you'll be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of critical infrastructure systems inside data center environments — the mechanical, cooling, and supporting systems that keep these facilities running around the clock. This is mission-critical work where uptime matters, and the company is looking for technicians who take that seriously. Travel as needed.

What You'll Be Doing

Perform maintenance, service, and troubleshooting safely in data center and mission-critical environments

Inspect, maintain, and repair cooling systems, CRAC/CRAH units, chilled water systems, pumps, and supporting mechanical equipment

Perform preventative maintenance on mechanical and environmental systems to maximize uptime and reliability

Diagnose and resolve issues with cooling, air distribution, temperature control, and equipment performance

Support installation, startup, and commissioning of new mechanical and cooling equipment

Respond to service calls and complete repairs on critical systems to minimize downtime

Provide technical support and guidance to other technicians in the field

Document maintenance activities, repairs, and system performance

Maintain compliance with safety procedures and operational standards in mission-critical facilities

Obtain an NCCER Performance Evaluator credential and support learning and development in the field

What They're Looking For

5+ years of experience with mechanical, cooling, or critical infrastructure systems, preferably in data centers or other mission-critical facilities

Strong understanding of mechanical systems supporting data center operations

Working knowledge of cooling systems, airflow management, chilled water systems, and environmental controls

Experience with equipment startup and commissioning

Familiarity with service tools, testing devices, and diagnostic equipment used in critical facilities

Ability to troubleshoot complex systems and stay composed in high-pressure situations

Strong written and verbal communication skills — data center work involves constant interaction with site escorts and facility personnel, so communicating clearly and professionally matters as much as the technical ability

High School Diploma required; technical school preferred

OSHA 10 preferred

EPA Certification preferred

Valid Driver's License required

Physical Requirements

Standing, walking, and sitting; talking and hearing in person and by phone; using hands and fingers to handle objects and controls; reaching with hands and arms; regular stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, and lifting up to 50 pounds; driving.
