Senior Mechanical Designer

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Designer to join our team in supporting the design and development of complex industrial and high-tech facility projects. This role is responsible for creating detailed mechanical designs, 3D models, and construction documents for building mechanical systems while collaborating closely with engineers, architects, and other design disciplines.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience with Revit MEP, AutoCAD, and mechanical building systems, and is capable of independently managing design tasks from concept through construction documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed mechanical system designs and construction documents for commercial, industrial, and high-tech facilities.
  • Create and maintain 3D models, plans, sections, details, equipment layouts, flow diagrams, and related project documentation using Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Coordinate mechanical designs with structural, architectural, electrical, plumbing, and other project disciplines.
  • Participate in design reviews, coordination meetings, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
  • Perform field surveys to verify existing site conditions when required.
  • Review project specifications and applicable codes to ensure design compliance.
  • Utilize Navisworks to perform model coordination and clash detection.
  • Resolve design conflicts and respond to requests for information throughout project execution.
  • Review contractor submittals and support the construction phase as needed.
  • Provide technical guidance and review the work of junior designers.
  • Assist engineers with design development and engineering calculations when required.
  • Prepare accurate labor estimates and support project planning activities.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Drafting, Design Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience designing building mechanical systems.
  • Strong experience using Revit MEP and AutoCAD for mechanical system design.
  • Experience with Navisworks for model review and coordination.
  • Working knowledge of HVAC and other building mechanical systems, including ductwork, piping, and equipment layouts.
  • Understanding of applicable mechanical building codes and industry standards.
  • Experience coordinating designs with multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a collaborative environment.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience supporting semiconductor, cleanroom, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, data center, or other advanced manufacturing facilities.
  • Familiarity with BIM coordination and multidisciplinary design environments.
  • Experience reviewing construction submittals and supporting projects during construction.
