You've spent years mastering complex systems in demanding environments — now put that expertise to work keeping a fast-paced cold-chain manufacturing facility running at peak performance. This is a hands-on engineering maintenance role with real ownership, and direct impact on production reliability.
The Reality of the Role: Despite the "Engineer" title and the written job description mentioning capital projects and retrofits, the hiring manager explicitly stated on the call that they do not want a commissioning or capital projects engineer. What they do want is a hands on HVAC/Refrigeration troubleshooter and maintainer.
What You'll Do:
This is a hands-on operations and maintenance role. The primary responsibility is to maintain and operate the HVAC and environmental control systems across the site (including mix rooms, processing, freezing, and cold storage) to ensure everything runs perfectly. The candidate will be responsible for precise temperature, humidity, and airflow control in a fast-paced, cold-chain manufacturing environment.
Engineer, maintain, and optimize HVAC systems across production, freezing, cold storage, packaging, and facility areas
Lead HVAC capital projects, retrofits, and expansions from concept through completion
Develop and execute PM programs and reliability strategies for all HVAC assets
Troubleshoot system failures affecting production or product quality and drive them to resolution
Partner with Maintenance, QA, Utilities, and Production teams to minimize downtime and drive energy efficiency
Requirements
Hands-on experience with HVAC systems in a manufacturing or industrial environment
Working knowledge of Ammonia-Glycol and Freon-based cooling systems
Familiarity with food safety and quality standards (GMP, SQF/BRC, FDA, USDA)
Ability to manage contractors, OEMs, and service providers while juggling multiple priorities
