About Moore Mechanical

Moore Mechanical, part of the MM Acquisitions group, is a leading HVAC and plumbing contractor serving West Michigan. With multiple office locations across the Lower Peninsula, we continue to grow while delivering high-end residential and commercial projects, including multi-million-dollar custom homes and commercial buildings.

Our team is built on collaboration, innovation, quality craftsmanship, and developing employees for long-term success.

What You'll Own

Estimating & Project Planning

  • Prepare complete HVAC estimates including takeoffs, quantities, equipment and material pricing, and labor hours
  • Define and document project scope from plans, specifications, and addenda—including what is included and excluded
  • Select equipment and coordinate pricing with vendors and manufacturer representatives
  • Own the cost basis on assigned estimates and keep it accurate, organized, and defensible

Project Review & Coordination

  • Review plans and specifications for completeness and flag risks, long-lead items, and scope gaps
  • Prepare proposals and supporting documentation for hand-off to Sales
  • Support won-project turnover to Project Management with a complete estimate package
  • Respond to technical questions and support necessary substitutions during the project

Continuous Improvement

  • Help improve estimating accuracy by comparing actual costs to estimates and refining assumptions

What Success Looks Like

  • Accurate, complete, and competitive estimates
  • Well-defined project scope with minimal ambiguity
  • Smooth handoff from estimating to sales and project management
  • Strong vendor relationships and reliable pricing
  • Continuous improvement in estimating accuracy
  • Well-organized estimate documentation
  • Positive collaboration with engineering, sales, and project management

(These success measures are derived directly from the responsibilities already listed—they don't change the role, they simply define what success looks like.)

What We're Looking For

  • HVAC estimating experience, or strong HVAC design/engineering experience ready to move into estimating
  • Comfort adopting new tools, including AI, to work more efficiently—we are actively bringing AI into estimating and expect the team to use it
  • Solid understanding of HVAC systems, equipment, and mechanical takeoff
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction documents
  • Proficiency with estimating and takeoff software; experience with AutoCAD or Revit is a plus
  • Strong computer skills, attention to detail, and organization
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities
  • Associate's degree, technical training, or equivalent related experience
  • Authorized to work in the United States
