Position Summary Information

Job Description Summary

The full-time HVAC Instructor (12‑month appointment) is responsible for delivering high‑quality instruction in the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of HVAC systems, including heat pumps, air conditioning systems, and heating units. This position serves a diverse student population, including incarcerated students, workforce development participants, and employed contractors seeking upskilling or certification. The instructor will support student success through engaging instruction, hands‑on training, and adherence to program and institutional standards.

Minimum Qualifications

Required:

  • Certificate in HVAC with a minimum of 3 years of industry experience OR
  • Diploma in HVAC with a minimum of 2 years of industry experience OR
  • Licensed HVAC professional without a certificate or diploma, but trained in the field: minimum of 5 years of industry experience
  • EPA-608 certification

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred:

  • Associate's Degree from an HVAC Technical School. Note: Degrees and hours must be from a college accredited by a US Dept of Education accepted accrediting agency such as SACSCOC.

Essential Duties

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Teaching Assignments:

  • Deliver instructions as assigned by the Program Coordinator, including classroom, lab, and on-site training for diverse student groups.

Student Engagement:

  • Provide effective instruction tailored to the needs of incarcerated learners, workforce development students, and employed contractors.

Record Management:

  • Maintain all required College records, including attendance, grade reports, and roll books.

Instructional Materials:

  • Compile bibliographies, supplemental materials, and outside reading assignments as appropriate.

Program Support:

  • Recommend supplies, equipment, and repairs to the Program Coordinator.

Assessment:

  • Construct, administer, and grade examinations and assessments.

Policy Compliance:

  • Remain familiar with and adhere to all college policies and procedures.
