HVAC Journeyman – Manufacturing - Residential
Position Summary
Steel + Spark is seeking a skilled and dependable HVAC Journeyman to support the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of HVAC and mechanical systems within our manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for ensuring production equipment, building systems, and climate control systems operate safely and efficiently to support uninterrupted manufacturing operations.
The ideal candidate is a licensed HVAC Journeyman with strong diagnostic skills, a commitment to workplace safety, and experience working in industrial or manufacturing environments.
Key Responsibilities
Install, maintain, inspect, and repair commercial and industrial HVAC equipment, including air handlers, rooftop units, chillers, boilers, exhaust systems, and ventilation equipment.
Mini split + split system install maintenance + start up
Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and control system issues to minimize equipment downtime.
Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on HVAC and related mechanical systems.
Monitor and maintain plant heating, cooling, and ventilation systems to ensure optimal performance.
Diagnose equipment failures and implement timely corrective actions.
Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals.
Install and repair ductwork, piping, controls, motors, compressors, pumps, and associated equipment.
Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and inspection documentation.
Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, environmental standards, and company safety policies.
Coordinate with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to support manufacturing operations.
Assist with equipment upgrades, facility improvements, and capital projects.
Participate in on-call rotations and respond to emergency maintenance needs as required.
Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and organized manner.

Qualifications Required
Journeyman HVAC License (state or local, as applicable).
High school diploma or GED.
5+ years of commercial or industrial HVAC experience.
Strong knowledge of refrigeration systems, electrical controls, HVAC diagnostics, and mechanical systems.
Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
Experience with preventive maintenance programs.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in manufacturing environments, including heights, confined spaces, and varying temperatures.
Preferred
Experience in manufacturing or industrial facilities.
EPA Section 608 Universal Certification.
Knowledge of building automation systems (BAS) and programmable logic controls (PLC).
Welding, brazing, or pipefitting experience.
Experience with compressed air, chilled water, steam, and process cooling systems.
