Job Title: HVAC Lead Installer

Location: San Jose, CA
Job Type: Full-Time
Pay: $38-$60/hr (DOE) + Performance Bonuses

Position Overview

Our Client is seeking an experienced Residential HVAC Lead Installer to lead residential HVAC installation projects from rough-in through final startup. The ideal candidate will have strong installation expertise, leadership skills, and experience working on residential new construction and retrofit projects while ensuring high-quality workmanship, safety compliance, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead residential HVAC installations from rough-in to final startup.
  • Install furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, air handlers, and mini-split systems.
  • Perform change-outs, system replacements, and new construction installations.
  • Install ductwork, line sets, condensate drains, ventilation systems, and related components.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and installation layouts.
  • Ensure all work complies with local building codes, manufacturer specifications, and company standards.
  • Test, start up, and verify proper system operation, airflow, and performance.
  • Coordinate with builders, project managers, inspectors, and homeowners.
  • Supervise and mentor installation helpers and junior technicians.
  • Complete installation documentation, checklists, and job reports accurately.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized job site.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and PPE requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of residential HVAC installation experience.
  • Experience leading installation crews or working as a Lead Installer.
  • Strong knowledge of residential HVAC systems and installation methods.
  • Ability to read blueprints, layouts, and technical drawings.
  • EPA Section 608 Certification (or willingness to obtain; company-sponsored).
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift 50-75 lbs and work in attics, crawlspaces, rooftops, and outdoor environments.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • New construction HVAC experience.
  • Experience with heat pumps and high-efficiency HVAC systems.
  • Basic electrical troubleshooting knowledge.
  • Gas piping experience.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
