As an HVAC Mechanic, you'll be the hero behind the scenes, installing, maintaining, and repairing critical heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems in commercial and industrial settings. CACI has an immediate opening for an HVAC Mechanic to join our team in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The HVAC Mechanic is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems in commercial, and industrial settings. This role requires a skilled professional who can diagnose issues, perform necessary repairs, and ensure systems operate efficiently and effectively.

Responsibilities:
 

  • Install and configure HVAC systems according to manufacturer specifications and local building codes.

  • Connect ductwork, pipes, and electrical wiring as required.

  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance on HVAC systems to ensure optimal performance.

  • Clean or replace air filters, belts, and other components during maintenance visits.

  • Lubricate moving parts and perform other maintenance actions to ensure systems run efficiently.

  • Diagnose and repair issues with HVAC systems, including troubleshooting electrical and mechanical problems.

  • Replace or repair defective components such as compressors, motors, and fans

  • Address customer complaints and perform necessary repairs to resolve issues.

  • Conduct tests on HVAC systems to ensure they are functioning correctly post-repair or installation.

  • Use specialized tools and equipment to measure system performance and identify areas for improvement.

  • Maintain accurate records of services performed, including parts used and labor hours.

  • Document customer interactions and any issues encountered during service.

  • Provide excellent customer service by explaining technical information in a clear and concise manner.

  • Advise customers on the best practices for maintaining their HVAC systems and improving energy efficiency.

Qualifications:

Required: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in HVAC is preferred.

  • EPA certification for handling refrigerants.

  • Journeyman or Master HVAC certification (where applicable).

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as an HVAC Mechanic.

  • Proven experience with both industrial and commercial HVAC systems.

  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, including installation, maintenance, and repair.

  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong communication and customer service skills.

  • Ability to lift heavy objects and work in various environments, including confined spaces.

  • Must be able to climb ladders and work at heights if necessary.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products; Outlook, Word, Excel.

  • Physical abilities include the use of arms, hands, and fingers to operate tools and various equipment. Standing, walking, moving, climbing, bending, crawling, reaching, and handling, pushing, and pulling.

  • Able to focus on items less than 20 inches away (corrected or uncorrected), see in three dimensions and distinguish all colors.

  • Minimum Secret Clearance to start with ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI

  • Experience with low voltage and high voltage systems


Work Environment:

  • This position may require working in various environments, including commercial buildings, industrial facilities and military installations.

  • May involve working in extreme temperatures and confined spaces.

  • Occasional overtime and emergency call-outs may be required.

  • Travel 25% or greater

Pay Range:

There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. The proposed salary range for this position is:

$58,500 - $122,800
