HVAC Mechanical Design Engineer X-energy LLC is hiring an HVAC Mechanical Design Engineer to support a Plant and Process Design team. The role includes designing and developing mechanical systems and components, ensuring compliance with technical specifications, and overseeing the implementation of System Engineering processes.Responsibilities Design and develop mechanical systems and components, integrating nuclear safety and system engineering principles.Identify and document applicable requirements, interfaces, and design basis, coordinating with stakeholders and systems engineers.Create and maintain CAD-generated engineering models and perform thermal and hydraulic calculations.Write and develop design documentation, including technical reports, calculations, and drawings.Lead external engineering partners, develop technical content for procurement, and review system engineering documents for correctness.Participate in design reviews, support quality and safety integration, and manage system and project risks.Perform design and configuration management tasks to meet project quality requirements.Manage the entire system development life cycle, including planning, monitoring, controlling, and leading core tasks.Provide independent reviews and guidance to junior team members and supervise calculations and procurement items.Lead small groups to solve complex technical problems and deliver high‑quality work products on time and within budget.Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.Qualifications Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline from an ABET‑accredited university.LevelII: ~3years of mechanical engineering experience (or a master's degree may substitute 2years).LevelIII: ~5years of experience (or a Ph.D. may substitute 3years).LevelIV: ~10years of experience.LevelV: ~15years of experience.Previous experience at X‑energy exceeding performance standards may substitute years of experience.Experience with mechanical process equipment design, procurement, installation, and/or operation.Systems or design‑engineering experience in successful mechanical system development projects for nuclear or process plants.Experience with HVAC, fire protection, drainage, compressed air, services, water‑based, or nuclear systems.Knowledge of system requirements management, verification, and Systems Engineering processes.Knowledge of relevant nuclear power plant licensing, regulatory, quality, and safety requirements.Technical proficiency in mechanical design fundamentals for structural and fluidic components, mechanisms, or manufacturing and processing equipment.Preferred: Experience designing and/or operating HVAC process equipment.Location and Work Expectations Location: 530Gaither Road, Rockville,MD.Work site: 4days onsite per week.Travel: up to 10% as needed.Hours: 8:00am–5:00pmET, Monday‑Friday.Compensation LevelII: $77,700–$129,500LevelIII: $96,300–$148,300LevelIV: $130,000–$160,000LevelV: $165,000–$195,000Benefits 401(k) plan with employer matchMedical/Dental/Vision insuranceLife and disability insurancePaid Time OffTuition reimbursement and professional development policyEqual Opportunity Employer & E‑Verify An Equal Opportunity Employer.
