    Description

HVAC / Mechanical Engineer — New York City (Hybrid) | $95K–$120K

    The opportunity

An established company supporting construction projects is expanding its mechanical team in NYC. The portfolio is broad — hospitals and labs, K-12 and university campuses, plus commercial interiors from restaurants and retail to hospitality and workplace — so no two projects look alike. Hybrid setup, limited travel.

    Are you the right fit?

You have 4+ years designing HVAC systems for buildings

You hold a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering (or related) from an ABET-accredited program

You're a licensed PE, or ready to get there within a couple of years (EIT counts in your favor)

You know your way around ASHRAE, ASME, NFPA, and NEC — bonus if you also handle IBC, IMC, IPC, or IECC

Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu, and MS Office are part of your daily toolkit

You communicate clearly with clients, contractors, and your own team

You're in the NYC area and can work a hybrid schedule

    Your day-to-day

Take mechanical designs from first concept all the way through construction closeout

Calculate heating and cooling loads and run energy models (Trace 700 or similar); apply psychrometric analysis to size and select equipment

Build system design calculations and specify HVAC equipment

Manage energy code compliance (ComCheck, Title 24) and research code questions, raising design issues with the EOR, Design Lead, or PM

Survey existing buildings and document HVAC systems and site conditions in the field

Draft specifications, design documents, engineering reports, and technical studies

Align your design with architects, other disciplines, and stakeholders

See projects through construction: review submittals, answer contractor RFIs, walk punch lists

    Extra credit

Healthcare, life-science, or education project experience

    Plumbing design knowledge

Drive to eventually lead the mechanical discipline

Pay: $95,000–$120,000 base, set according to skills, experience, and qualifications.
