About the Role

As a CBRE HVAC Mobile Engineer, you will support a major telecommunications client by performing maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs across a portfolio of critical infrastructure sites throughout Albuquerque and surrounding areas. These facilities include telecommunications central offices, data centers, technical facilities, and light industrial locations where reliability and uptime are essential.

This position is part of the Engineering and Technical Services function and operates in a mobile, route-based environment supporting approximately 20-30 sites within the assigned territory. You will perform preventive maintenance, respond to service calls, and help ensure HVAC systems and supporting equipment operate efficiently and reliably.

This role requires regular travel throughout the Albuquerque region and occasional travel to outlying sites. Engineers work independently while collaborating closely with facility contacts, dispatch, management, and client stakeholders.

What You'll Do

  • Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on commercial HVAC systems across multiple sites.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment failures in mission-critical telecommunications facilities and data centers.

  • Service and maintain HVAC equipment including:

  • Rooftop Units (RTUs)

  • Split Systems

  • CRAC/Precision Cooling Systems

  • Chillers (monitoring and support level)

  • Exhaust and Ventilation Systems

  • VAV Systems (where applicable)

  • Monitor and interact with Building Automation Systems (BAS/BMS), including alarm monitoring, diagnostics, and basic adjustments.

  • Perform route-based service visits, typically supporting 1-3 sites per day.

  • Complete all service documentation using CMMS and mobile work-order systems.

  • Coordinate with dispatch, site contacts, facility management, and client representatives to prioritize service requests and resolve issues.

  • Perform basic troubleshooting on supporting systems including electrical components, condensate and minor plumbing systems, sensors, thermostats, relays, and controls.

  • Respond to emergency service calls at critical telecommunications and data center facilities as needed.

  • Operate a company-issued vehicle while maintaining compliance with safety standards, codes, and CBRE policies.

Work Structure & Schedule

  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM.
  • Work Style: Mobile/field-based with a combination of scheduled preventive maintenance routes and dynamic dispatch for reactive service calls.
  • Reporting Location: 111 3rd St., Albuquerque, NM 87102. Technicians report to this location to begin their regular workday. Emergency and after-hours calls may be dispatched from home.
  • Travel: Typically 2-4 hours of drive time per day depending on route assignments and call volume.
  • On-Call: Required when alarms or urgent service needs arise.
  • Overtime: May be required based on workload and emergency response needs.

What You'll Need

  • High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma required.

  • Minimum of 5 years of commercial or industrial HVAC experience.

  • EPA Universal Certification (required).

  • Experience with:

  • Commercial HVAC systems

  • Preventive maintenance programs

  • HVAC troubleshooting and diagnostics

  • CMMS and mobile work-order systems

  • Ability to perform intermediate to advanced HVAC diagnostics and root-cause analysis in critical environments.

  • Working knowledge of BAS/BMS systems and HVAC controls.

  • Understanding of electrical, controls, and mechanical systems associated with HVAC equipment.

  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds, climb ladders, and work in varying indoor and outdoor environments.

  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
