 HVAC Operations Technician
Location: Taylor, TX
Job Type: Full-Time Contract
Pay: Based on Experience (DOE)
Schedule: Shift-Based Schedule (24/7 Operations Environment)

About the Opportunity
We are seeking skilled and motivated HVAC Operations Technicians to support critical facility operations within a world-class semiconductor manufacturing environment. In this role, you will help maintain the stable operation of complex mechanical utility systems that are essential to wafer manufacturing processes. These systems operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, making reliability, safety, and operational excellence key priorities.

This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with industrial, facilities, mechanical, HVAC, utilities, or semiconductor experience who enjoy troubleshooting equipment, optimizing system performance, and working in a highly technical environment.

Job Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities
Operations & Maintenance
Operate and maintain site mechanical utility systems to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable performance.
Monitor and control facility systems including Cooling Towers, Chillers, Boilers/Steam, Hot Water Systems, Water Treatment Systems, Air Conditioning, Compressed Air, Vacuum, and Exhaust Systems.
Adjust equipment parameters and start or stop systems as needed to maximize efficiency while maintaining operating specifications.
Ensure utility systems consistently meet operational requirements and production demands.
Monitoring & Troubleshooting
Monitor system performance using SCADA, HMI, and other control systems.
Analyze system deviations and take corrective actions to restore normal operating conditions.
Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, automation, and utility system issues to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
Escalate issues to engineering or system owners when necessary.
Safety & Compliance
Follow all standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety requirements, and operational guidelines.
Respond to life safety and security alarm conditions.
Participate in safety meetings, training activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Assist in identifying opportunities for safety and quality improvements.
Collaboration & Communication
Collaborate with engineering teams to drive system improvements and operational excellence.
Work closely with Electrical, Gas & Chemical, Facilities Services, and other departments on site projects and operational issues.
Provide accurate shift pass-down communication and maintain detailed operational documentation.
Support field operations or control room activities based on experience and competency level.
Shift Support
Work a shift-based schedule supporting continuous 24/7 facility operations.
Provide off-shift coverage as needed to maintain adequate staffing levels.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Related STEM or Technical Field
Preferred Experience
3+ years of experience in industrial operations and maintenance environments.
Experience supporting:Mechanical systems
Pumps and hydraulics
Piping systems
Electrical systems
Automation and controls
Ultra-Pure Water (UPW) systems
Wastewater treatment operations
Power generation or utility systems
Plant operations
Field service or equipment maintenance
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Understanding of SCADA systems and Human Machine Interface (HMI) controls.
Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
Ability to interpret equipment readings, trends, and performance data.
Experience operating and maintaining industrial mechanical systems.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Commitment to safety, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
Preferred Qualifications
Semiconductor manufacturing experience.
Industrial facilities or utility operations experience.
Knowledge of plant operations, utility systems, or critical infrastructure environments.
Experience with process controls, automation systems, or building management systems.
