HVAC Project Manager / Estimator

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced HVAC Project Manager / Estimator to oversee the planning, estimating, and execution of commercial HVAC projects from bid through completion. This role requires strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems, the ability to develop competitive estimates, and leadership skills to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with project specifications.

The ideal candidate will have a background in commercial mechanical construction, experience managing project budgets and schedules, and the ability to collaborate with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.


Key Responsibilities

Estimating & Preconstruction

  • Prepare accurate HVAC project estimates based on plans, specifications, and bid documents
  • Perform take-offs for mechanical systems including ductwork, piping, and equipment
  • Analyze project scope and identify potential risks, cost factors, and value engineering opportunities
  • Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes
  • Participate in bid reviews and proposal development

Project Management

  • Manage HVAC construction projects from award through closeout
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and cost forecasts
  • Coordinate with field supervisors, foremen, subcontractors, and suppliers
  • Review project drawings, RFIs, and submittals to ensure compliance with project specifications
  • Monitor labor productivity and project profitability
  • Ensure projects meet quality, safety, and regulatory standards

Client & Team Coordination

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, engineers, and general contractors
  • Lead project meetings and provide status updates
  • Resolve project issues and coordinate solutions between office and field teams
  • Maintain strong relationships with vendors and subcontractors

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in HVAC project management, estimating, or mechanical construction
  • Strong understanding of commercial HVAC systems, ductwork, piping, and equipment installation
  • Experience preparing accurate cost estimates and bid proposals
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and mechanical drawings
  • Experience managing project budgets, schedules, and subcontractors
  • Proficiency with estimating and project management software is a plus (FastPIPE, FastDUCT, Trimble, Bluebeam, etc.)

Preferred Experience

  • Background working with commercial, industrial, healthcare, or institutional HVAC projects
  • Knowledge of local building codes and mechanical standards
  • Experience coordinating with general contractors and other trades
