We are seeking an HVAC Project Manager to plan, coordinate, and deliver HVAC and associated mechanical system projects that support high‑performing, efficient, and resilient buildings. HVAC Project Managers are thrilled to dig deep into buildings and their mechanical systems and work mostly independently on complex projects while collaborating closely with clients, contractors, and internal teams. They apply sound engineering judgment, adapt standard practices, and develop effective solutions to technical and operational challenges, supported by an experienced multidisciplinary team.

Job Description and Key Responsibilities

\n

The overall objective of this position is to plan, coordinate, and deliver mechanical systems projects related to HVAC with a strong focus on quality, cost effectiveness, and client satisfaction.

\n

\n

Main responsibilities of the Project Manager include (but are not limited to):

\n

• Manage energy efficiency related projects, deferred maintenance resolution, and comfort or domestic water system improvements.
• \n
• Obtain and evaluate contractor quotes, proposals, and cost estimates.
• \n
• Lead troubleshooting efforts and coordinate resolution of system performance issues.
• \n
• Witness testing, inspections, and system verification activities.
• \n
• Collect, analyze, and document technical data to support project decisions.
• \n
• Maintain direct responsibility for quality, schedule adherence, and cost effectiveness of all project deliverables.
• \n
• Prepare technical reports and project documentation for clients.
• \n
• Maintain regular, professional communication with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders.
• \n
• Lead and participate in in‑person client and contractor meetings, which represent the majority of project coordination activities.
• \n
• Support commissioning, sustainability, and benchmarking‑related tasks as assigned.
• \n
• Coordinate effectively with internal Baumann teams to ensure alignment with project objectives and firm standards.

Requirements and Qualifications

\n

The position requires the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a consulting environment, with significant opportunities for professional growth within a growing organization.

The following qualifications are required:

\n

• \n
• End‑user experience with multiple Building Automation Systems (BAS).
• \n
• Minimum of 5+ years of experience in plant operations, construction management, commissioning, or building automation system installation or service.
• \n
• A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field may substitute for up to 2 years of required experience.
• \n
• In-depth knowledge of common commercial HVAC systems and their components.
• \n
• Working knowledge of plumbing and electrical systems.
• \n
• Effective construction site communication skills.
• \n
• Must be able to meet eligibility requirements to access government facilities.
• \n
• Residency within the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.
• \n
• Ability to work onsite up to 3–4 days per week at client sites within the Washington, D.C. and Baltimore metropolitan areas.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing and implementing successful energy efficiency measures.
• \n
• Familiarity with Building Energy Performance Standards (BEPS) programs in Washington, D.C., and Maryland.

• Master HAVC license

• DC 3rd Class Steam Operator license
• \n
• Certified Energy Manager certification
• \n
