HVAC/R & Maintenance Technician (Remote)

About the Role

This role involves working as a remote HVAC/R & Maintenance Technician for a well-established organization with retail locations in Northern & Central Ohio. The position primarily focuses on troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing commercial refrigeration and HVAC systems. It supports the organization by ensuring the efficient operation of refrigeration and climate-control equipment, contributing to the smooth functioning of the facilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair walk-in coolers/freezers, rooftop units (RTUs), ice machines, beverage equipment, exhaust/ventilation systems, and other refrigeration and climate-control equipment.
• Perform general facility maintenance, including basic electrical, plumbing, lighting, fixtures, and store equipment repairs.
• Participate in an after-hours on-call rotation.

Minimum Requirements

• Commercial HVAC/R and refrigeration troubleshooting and repair experience.
• Hands-on experience with walk-in coolers/freezers, RTUs, and commercial refrigeration systems.
• Strong electrical troubleshooting skills.
• EPA Type II or Universal certification preferred.
• Ability to independently diagnose problems and complete repairs.
• Experience in convenience store, grocery/supermarket, restaurant/QSR, retail facilities, or commercial HVAC/R service.
• Strong communication, organization, and customer-service skills.
• Valid driver's license and driving record that meets company insurance requirements.
• Ability to successfully complete required pre-employment drug screening.
• 4 years of HVAC/R experience is preferred, although candidates with less experience and strong hands-on refrigeration and troubleshooting capabilities will be considered.

Physical Requirements

• Walk, stand, bend, stoop, kneel, squat, climb, and balance.
• Lift, carry, push, and pull materials or equipment weighing up to 90 pounds.
• Regularly operate tools, equipment, and controls.
• Work in indoor and outdoor environments.

Work Environment

• Primarily Monday–Friday, typically around 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., with some scheduling flexibility.
• Approximately 45–50 hours per week, including overtime.
• After-hours on-call rotation approximately once every five weeks, with additional call-out compensation.
• Service territory throughout Northern & Central Ohio.
• Dispatched primarily from home with paid travel time.
