About the Role
Picture your day at Skyline Mechanical: you roll out in a service truck to a retrofit project—swapping an aging RTU on a mid-rise. By midday, you’re laying out grooved iron piping and tying a WSHP into an existing loop. In the afternoon, you verify controls, charge the system, and button up your digital report—no paper forms in sight. That’s a typical day for our HVAC Retrofit & Changeout Installation Specialist.
This is a permanent, full-time role focused on retrofits and changeouts—not new construction. You’ll work primarily in commercial environments with some residential assignments. Experience in central plants and chilled water systems is a strong plus. Compensation is based on experience and discussed during the interview.
What You’ll Tackle
- Install and replace HVAC systems: RTUs, furnaces, split systems, refrigeration equipment, and WSHPs.
- Diagnose issues and perform repair work during and after changeouts to ensure peak performance.
- Coordinate with property maintenance teams to plan access, sequencing, and shutdowns.
- Work to code and company safety standards on every installation and start-up.
- Apply mechanical aptitude to perform plumbing, brazing/welding, and refrigeration piping tasks.
- Document labor, materials, and commissioning details accurately in our mobile system.
