HVAC Service Apprentice - Residential & Light Commercial

Pay: Starting at $18.00 per hour Position Type: Full-time Work Type: Residential and Light Commercial HVAC Service Location: Bastrop / Central Texas Area

Parobek Plumbing & AC is looking for a motivated HVAC Service Apprentice who is ready to start a career in the trade and grow with a company that invests in its people. This full-time opportunity offers hands-on training, steady work, and the potential to advance after just 3 to 6 months based on performance, reliability, and willingness to learn. You will work alongside experienced technicians to learn how to inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair residential and light commercial HVAC systems while providing dependable, professional service to our customers. No experience? We will train the right candidate. What You’ll Do

  • Assist experienced HVAC technicians with residential and light commercial service calls, preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and basic repairs.
  • Learn to inspect heating and cooling systems for proper operation, efficiency, wear, and safety concerns.
  • Support routine maintenance tasks such as changing filters, cleaning coils, clearing drains, checking thermostats, and helping maintain equipment performance.
  • Help load and organize tools, materials, and parts needed for the day’s calls and keep service vehicles clean and stocked.
  • Observe and assist with troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, refrigerant, and airflow-related issues under supervision.
  • Accurately document work performed, parts used, and service recommendations as directed by the lead technician.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and professional job sites and follow all company safety procedures and standards.
  • Treat customers, coworkers, and supervisors with professionalism, respect, and a helpful attitude.
  • Attend company meetings, training sessions, and manufacturer training opportunities as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the HVAC service department and overall team success.

What We’re Looking For

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous HVAC trade school coursework or mechanical experience is helpful but not required.
  • Strong interest in learning HVAC service, maintenance, and repair.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to safely use hand tools and power tools.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and learn from feedback.
  • Strong attendance, reliability, and a positive attitude.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record preferred.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain TDLR license for the role.
  • EPA certification is a plus, but not required unless otherwise specified by company policy.
  • Due to Auto Insurance rule must be 21 or older.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull equipment and materials consistent with field service work.
  • Ability to work in attics, crawl spaces, rooftops, and outdoor conditions in varying temperatures.
  • Ability to climb ladders, bend, kneel, crouch, and stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to work safely around electrical components, tools, and moving equipment.
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment.

Schedule and Advancement
