HVAC Systems Install & Start‑Up Lead Technician

Your Primary Impact
- Deliver code-compliant, manufacturer-accurate installations for residential and light commercial projects
- Ensure clean start-up, thorough performance verification, and confident customer handoff
Core Duties
- Install: furnaces, ACs, heat pumps, ductless mini-splits, boilers, and related components
- Fabricate/modify: ductwork, transitions, and registers
- Run: refrigeration lines, condensate drains, venting
- Set/level: indoor and outdoor units; secure and seal to spec
- Start up: execute procedures, verify performance, document results
Site Execution Standards
- Read and interpret plans, specs, notes, wiring diagrams, and manuals
- Verify equipment/materials prior to install
- Meet Massachusetts mechanical code and manufacturer requirements
- Maintain clean, safe, and protected work areas throughout
Quality & Safety
- Follow company safety protocols and OSHA guidelines
- Perform final checks and correct issues before departure
Customer Experience
- Professional introductions and clear explanation of the work plan
- Answer basic operation questions; review thermostat and system functionality
Documentation & Communication
- Complete all job documentation accurately
- Capture required job-site photos
- Communicate progress and issues to the installation manager/operations
Tools & Vehicle Stewardship
- Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment
- Handle/store materials properly and report maintenance needs
Qualifications
- Required Experience: Minimum [Insert Years] years of HVAC installation; residential install background; strong mechanical/troubleshooting ability
- Technical Acumen: Equipment installation/configuration; read wiring diagrams/manuals; ductwork and airflow fundamentals; refrigeration install best practices
- Licenses & Certs: Valid driver’s license with clean record; EPA Certification (Type II or Universal preferred); MA refrigeration license preferred (not required); additional HVAC certifications welcomed
Physical Capabilities
- Work in homes, attics, crawl spaces, basements, rooftops, and mechanical rooms
- Lift/carry up to 75 lbs; climb ladders; work at heights and in confined spaces
- Operate in hot, cold, and varying weather conditions; sustain physical work for extended periods
Work Schedule
- Monday–Friday, approximately 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
- Occasional overtime during peak seasons
- On-call rotation if required
- Finalize expectations during hiring
Compensation
Hourly Range: $25.00 – $45.00 (dependent on experience, licensing, certifications, and performance)
