HVAC Tech/Installer

Custom Personnel is seeking HVAC Technicians and Installers for clients in the Redding area.

The ideal candidate has experience installing HVAC systems in both residential and commercial settings and a great customer service personality.

Installer:

• Install new HVAC systems (furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, ductless mini-splits)
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and manufacturer specifications
• Size and install ductwork, refrigerant lines, and electrical connections
• Mount and level indoor/outdoor units according to code
• Connect systems to electrical, gas, and thermostat wiring
• Perform load calculations to ensure properly sized equipment
• Test new installations for proper operation, airflow, and refrigerant charge
• Ensure work meets local building codes and manufacturer warranty requirements
• Remove and dispose of old equipment safely (including refrigerant recovery)
• Educate customers on new system operation and maintenance
• Coordinate with admin/dispatch on installation timelines and material needs
• Complete installation documentation and permit inspections

Maintenance Tech:

• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on existing systems
• Clean coils, filters, blowers, and condensate drains
• Check refrigerant levels and detect/repair leaks
• Inspect and calibrate thermostats and controls
• Diagnose and troubleshoot system malfunctions
• Repair or replace worn components (motors, capacitors, belts, contactors)
• Check electrical connections and voltage/amperage readings
• Test system safety controls and shut-off mechanisms
• Perform seasonal tune-ups (AC in spring, heating in fall)
• Document service visits, findings, and recommendations
• Advise customers on repair vs. replacement decisions
• Respond to emergency service/repair calls
• Maintain service vehicle inventory and tools
