Position Title: HVAC Technician
Term of Employment: Full-Time, 12 months
Reports To: Executive Director of Facilities & Maintenance

General Statement of Job:
Performs skilled trades work, installation, repair, and maintenance of Heating and Air Conditioning Units for all school facilities and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the maintenance supervisor.
Essential Job Functions:
Service and repair HVAC systems, boilers, chiller, air conditioners, heat pumps, etc. Responsible for the smooth, safe, and efficient operation of the HVAC systems and related electrical components. Performs preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment. Installs exhaust fans or repairs fans. Changes motors, belts, bearings, and pulleys. Be responsible for maintaining heating and air conditioning equipment. Be willing to help with other maintenance work when needed. Keep a close inventory of equipment and supplies. Be responsible for keeping the service truck in good order, both mechanically and the parts stored inside of the truck. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Thorough knowledge of the materials, equipment, tools, and techniques used in the installation, maintenance, allocation, and repair of HVAC and electrical equipment. Thorough knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal laws, rules, and guidelines. Thorough knowledge of the safety hazards of the work and of the necessary safety precautions. Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions. Ability to read diagrams and blueprints. Ability to use standard tools and equipment of the trade. Ability to direct the work of others. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates. Ability to climb a ladder.
Minimum Training and Experience:
High school diploma or GED. Experience in heating and air conditioning repair or a combination of education and experience. Must hold a NC drivers license and maintain a good driving record. Full knowledge of heating and air conditioning equipment and all related control systems.
Minimum Qualifications or Standards Required to Perform Essential Job Functions:
This work regularly requires standing, walking, speaking, or hearing, using hands to finger, handle, or feel, climbing, or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, reaching with hands and arms, pushing, pulling, and lifting. Must be able to operate a motor vehicle. Must be able to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or 25 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements are those for Medium Work.
