HVAC Technician

TempExperts is seeking an HVAC Technician in Blaine, MN for a full-time, temp-to-perm opportunity. This role supports the day-to-day operation of HVAC and mechanical systems within an industrial/large commercial environment, ensuring equipment runs safely, efficiently, and reliably.
Responsibilities:
- Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on HVAC and mechanical equipment.
- Conduct routine inspections; monitor metering equipment; adjust operating levels to maintain continuous operation.
- Identify and resolve safety-related issues; evaluate equipment to prevent potential failures.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair ventilation systems, pumps, fans, chillers, rooftop units, split systems, compressors, and refrigeration equipment.
- Utilize building automation systems to monitor facility conditions and system performance.
- Recharge refrigerant, detect leaks, and confirm proper refrigerant-cycle operation.
- Complete scheduled maintenance tasks using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
- Respond to work orders and communicate status updates while ensuring compliance with codes and regulations.
- Follow safety protocols including lockout/tagout procedures and proper PPE usage.
- Use diagnostic tools and instruments to support equipment performance and energy-efficiency initiatives.
- Maintain accurate documentation in electronic and/or paper systems.
- Collaborate with team members and support site emergencies as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Requirements/Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3+ years of HVAC/R maintenance experience in industrial or commercial environments.
- Ability to work at heights using aerial or scissor lifts.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to pass respirator medical evaluation and fit testing.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment substance abuse screening.
- Ability to obtain required security access credentials.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to obtain a valid drivers license if required and maintain facility authorization credentials.
- U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency required (no sponsorship available).
- Technical degree preferred.
- EPA Universal Refrigeration certification preferred (or ability to obtain).
- Experience in GMP or regulated environments preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret manuals, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Experience with industrial systems such as boilers, chillers, cooling towers, compressors, and automation systems preferred.
- Experience with CMMS systems (Maximo preferred).
- Predictive maintenance experience is a plus.
