    PLANT SERVICE - HVAC Technician/Electrical

    Hourly Full-time (35-40)

    Position summary

    Maintains, repairs, and installs power on H.V.A.C. and Refrigeration equipment in campus housing and university buildings by performing the following duties.

    Maintains, inspects and installs all heating, air-conditioning and refrigeration equipment, fans, vacuum pumps, air compressors, vents, ducts, and pneumatic and DDC control systems on the university campus Rotates weekend shifts to take call for emergency service calls including repairs beyond normal work hours as required. May be called in at any time to assist with emergency repairs as needed. When on normal call rotation the response time to an emergency should not exceed more than thirty minutes.

    Qualifications summary

    Associate Degree from college technical school, or one to two years related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Working knowledge of computer programs essential to energy-management / boiler room operations.Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

    Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.

    Qualifications

    We are willing to invest in training the right candidate. Hold a valid USA or Canadian Drivers License

    Prefered to have the following::

    Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or at least two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have at least 5 years' experience in electrical trade. Also should have working knowledge of the equipment and techniques used in electrical practice. Must have knowledge of relevant State codes, Acts and Regulations. Successful completion of a recognized apprenticeship in electricity. Be able to read blueprints and control schematics.Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in limited standardized situations

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger handle, or feel; talk or hear. A good sense of smell is necessary. The employee must regularly lift and / or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and / or move up to 100 pounds.     Work environment

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet and / or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
