Description
MAJOR TASKS:
Operates, schedules, and verifies proper operation of HVAC on a daily basis.
Performs repairs to Energy Management System district wide, and any related equipment including thermostats, actuators, controllers and indoor air quality sensors.
Performs routine and demand maintenance for Central Plants district wide including boilers, chillers, pumps, air compressors, and air handlers.
Implements and carries out a preventative maintenance routine for all Central Plant related equipment district wide.
Manages and maintains water treatment program on all cooling towers district wide.
Manages and coordinates outside contractor work to Central Plant equipment district wide.
Schedules daily and special events for power and climate control.
Makes changes and checks alarms from remote locations via a laptop computer.
Is available on an on-call basis for problem resolution after hours.
All other duties as assigned by the Director of Facilities
QUALIFICATIONS:
Certification as a Central Plant operator or three (3) years experience in Central Plant operations.
Trade school certificate or two (2) year degree preferred.
Experience with HVAC service and repairs; includinbg fan coil and chillers
Three (3) years experience operating and troubleshooting energy management hardware and software.
Must be computer literate.
Understands basic computer networking.
Understands operation of valve and damper actuators, pressure transducers, and air quality monitors.
Must be able to work hands-on with mechanical equipment.
EPA refrigerant certification required (will support employee in obtaining)
Must be able to work with and around hazardous chemicals such as chlorine, acids, refrigerant, lithium bromide, natural gas, and diesel fuel.
Understanding of basic plumbing
Available on a 24- hour basis for emergencies and special events.
