    Description

    MAJOR TASKS:

    • Operates, schedules, and verifies proper operation of HVAC on a daily basis.
    • Performs repairs to Energy Management System district wide, and any related equipment including thermostats, actuators, controllers and indoor air quality sensors.
    • Performs routine and demand maintenance for Central Plants district wide including boilers, chillers, pumps, air compressors, and air handlers.
    • Implements and carries out a preventative maintenance routine for all Central Plant related equipment district wide.
    • Manages and maintains water treatment program on all cooling towers district wide.
    • Manages and coordinates outside contractor work to Central Plant equipment district wide.
    • Schedules daily and special events for power and climate control.
    • Makes changes and checks alarms from remote locations via a laptop computer.
    • Is available on an on-call basis for problem resolution after hours.
    • All other duties as assigned by the Director of Facilities

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Certification as a Central Plant operator or three (3) years experience in Central Plant operations.
    • Trade school certificate or two (2) year degree preferred.
    • Experience with HVAC service and repairs; includinbg fan coil and chillers
    • Three (3) years experience operating and troubleshooting energy management hardware and software.
    • Must be computer literate.
    • Understands basic computer networking.
    • Understands operation of valve and damper actuators, pressure transducers, and air quality monitors.
    • Must be able to work hands-on with mechanical equipment.
    • EPA refrigerant certification required (will support employee in obtaining)
    • Must be able to work with and around hazardous chemicals such as chlorine, acids, refrigerant, lithium bromide, natural gas, and diesel fuel.
    • Understanding of basic plumbing
    • Available on a 24- hour basis for emergencies and special events.
