Job Summary:

Assists in maintaining HVAC equipment, refrigeration equipment, specialty HVAC vaults, ice machines and kitchen equipment.

Major Job Responsibilities:
  • Assists with repairs, inspections, overhauls, and scheduled maintenance of heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems, refrigeration systems, and food service equipment
  • Assists senior HVAC technicians in maintaining tight climate conditions in collection areas to ensure that environmental systems are functioning properly
  • Assists with installations, replacements, adjustments, and calibration of major components of refrigeration systems such as compressors, condensers, expansion valves, service valves, thermostats, coils, and drive assemblies
  • Assists senior HVAC technicians with repairs and/or replacements of valves, motors, controls, switches, gauges, wiring, fans, pumps, compressors, condensers, cores, pipes and other functional components of the systems
  • Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures and schedules
Qualifications:
  • High School/GED
  • Community college / trade school certificate preferred
  • 2+ years related experience servicing refrigeration equipment, preferably in the service trade
  • EPA 608 refrigeration license
  • California driver license with less than three DMV points
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of specialty systems such as low temperature and humidity vaults with tight temperature and humidity parameters preferred
  • Ability to read control drawings, wiring diagrams, blue prints, and psychometric charts preferred
  • Understanding of micro processing controls and building management systems preferred
  • Ability to use computers or other electronic tools for trouble shooting and servicing HVAC systems, including air balancing and refrigeration equipment preferred
  • Familiarity with electronic work order and maintenance software preferred
  • Knowledge of refrigeration tools and equipment, including but not limited to refrigeration gauges, vacuum pumps, torches, leak detector equipment, and velocity and cfm meters
  • Understanding of VAV, constant volume air systems, and VFD controls preferred
