-Overview
We are seeking an HVAC Technician with building automation systems experience to support the HVAC and controls infrastructure of a commercial facility that includes laboratory and office space. This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing HVAC equipment and associated building automation systems (BAS) to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation. The ideal candidate is experienced in commercial HVAC environments and comfortable working in a facility that supports technical and laboratory operations.
-Responsibilities
Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC equipment throughout the facility, including air handlers, RTUs, VAV boxes, exhaust fans, and related mechanical systems
Monitor, program, and adjust building automation system (BAS) points, schedules, and setpoints to optimize comfort and energy efficiency
Diagnose and resolve BAS alarms, sensor faults, and control sequence issues
Support HVAC needs for office spaces, laboratories, and facility equipment, including specialized ventilation and pressure-controlled environments
Diagnose HVAC and controls issues and implement effective repairs to minimize downtime
Perform preventative maintenance on HVAC equipment, controls, and related systems
Read and interpret mechanical schematics, control diagrams, blueprints, and technical documents
Ensure all work complies with safety regulations, mechanical codes, and company policies
Coordinate with facilities, maintenance teams, and contractors as needed
Maintain accurate documentation of repairs, maintenance activities, and BAS programming changes
-Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent
EPA Universal Certification (or equivalent refrigerant handling certification)
Experience working with building automation systems (e.g., Johnson Controls, Siemens, Honeywell, Tridium/Niagara, or similar)
2+ years of commercial HVAC experience
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Ability to read and interpret mechanical and controls diagrams and blueprints
Knowledge of mechanical codes and safety regulations
Ability to work independently in a facility maintenance environment
