HVAC Technician

Temp-to-Perm, Full-Time
TempExperts is seeking a skilled HVAC Technician in Melville, NY for a full-time, temp-to-perm opportunity. This role supports an industrial/large commercial environment and is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing HVAC and mechanical systems to ensure safe and efficient facility operations.
Responsibilities:
- Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on HVAC and mechanical equipment.
- Inspect and monitor equipment performance; adjust operating levels for continuous operation.
- Identify and resolve safety concerns; evaluate equipment to prevent failures.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair ventilation systems, pumps, fans, chillers, rooftop units, split systems, compressors, and refrigeration equipment.
- Utilize building automation systems to monitor conditions and system performance.
- Recharge refrigerant, detect leaks, and ensure proper refrigerant-cycle operation.
- Complete scheduled maintenance tasks using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
- Respond to work orders and provide updates while ensuring compliance with codes and regulations.
- Follow safety protocols including lockout/tagout procedures and proper PPE usage.
- Use diagnostic tools and instruments to support energy-efficient solutions.
- Maintain accurate documentation in electronic and/or paper systems.
- Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively with customers, including during emergencies.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements/Education:- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3+ years of HVAC/R maintenance experience in industrial or commercial environments.
- Ability to work at heights using aerial or scissor lifts.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to pass respirator medical evaluation and fit testing.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment substance abuse screening.
- Ability to obtain required security access credentials.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to obtain a valid drivers license if required.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain facility authorization credentials.
- U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency required (no sponsorship available).
- Technical degree preferred.
- EPA Universal Refrigeration certification preferred (or ability to obtain).
- Experience in GMP or regulated environments preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret manuals, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Experience with industrial systems such as boilers, chillers, cooling towers, compressors, and automation systems preferred.
- Experience with CMMS systems (Maximo preferred).
- Predictive maintenance experience is a plus.
