Under the direct supervision of the HVAC Shop Supervisor, or other designated personnel, the HVAC Technician performs skilled work in the maintenance and repair of refrigeration, heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems, and their controls. Much, but not all of this work will be focused on planning, scheduling, performing and documenting regular Preventative Maintenance but will include reactive maintenance and repairs on HVAC systems smaller than 10 tons/15,000 CFM.
Daily tasks include but not limited to: preventative and reactive maintenance/repairs on air handler units (AHU), circulator pumps, split HVAC systems, cooling towers and fan coil units. Performs blower assembly repairs including bearings and motor replacements and pipe removal and replacement.
Utilizes a computerized maintenance work order system to perform all maintenance and provides written (electronic) records of work completed on a daily basis. Communicates with supervisors, contractors, Work Center and customers on a continuous basis through multiple means. Employees may perform other duties as assigned. This position is deemed essential.
Applicants who possess a Journeyman license for HVAC/Refrigeration may be considered for higher pay grade.
