Seeking a hands-on HVAC Mechanical Test Lab Technician to support testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance activities within a mechanical test laboratory focused on HVAC components and subcomponents. This role assists engineers with prototype builds, test execution, data collection, and preventative maintenance activities. The technician will perform electrical and mechanical testing, operate test equipment, document results, and support the development and improvement of test fixtures and lab infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
Assist with creating and executing test plans for HVAC components, mechanical parts, and prototypes.
Perform hands-on testing using mechanical test equipment, tools, and measurement devices.
Collect, analyze, and document test data, observations, and results in detailed test reports.
Support prototype assembly, test fixture fabrication, and troubleshooting of custom and off-the-shelf equipment.
Develop and maintain preventative maintenance (PM) plans for lab equipment and test systems.
Perform equipment safety inspections and maintain inspection records.
Troubleshoot mechanical issues using appropriate hand tools and diagnostic equipment.
Assist engineers with testing activities, equipment setup, programming, and lab operations.
Maintain compliance with lab safety requirements and procedures.
Qualifications:
Experience with HVAC systems, mechanical testing, or laboratory environments preferred.
Strong hands-on mechanical skills with the ability to use hand tools, measurement tools, and diagnostic equipment.
Ability to perform testing using tools such as torque drivers, micrometers, calipers, and multimeters.
Basic understanding of electrical and electronics concepts.
Ability to read and interpret 2D drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
Basic computer skills including data entry, Microsoft Word, and email communication.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with CAD, LabVIEW, or test automation systems.
Background in mechanical assembly, equipment maintenance, or commercial HVAC technology.
