Sr Linux Systems Administrator - W2 only - No C2C
Contract Length: 21 weeks with possible extension
Location: Owings Mills, MD
Work Setup: Hybrid Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday onsite

Join a large enterprise environment supporting critical infrastructure and high-availability systems. The Sr Linux Systems Administrator will guide NFS storage migrations for Unit Systems EPS Stabilization while supporting Linux, VMware, cloud, and server infrastructure.

Sr Linux Systems Administrator Responsibilities

• Manage RedHat 6, 7, 8, 9 servers from both a hardware and operating system standpoint.

• Guide NFS storage migrations and coordinate migrations with ~200 application teams.

• Discuss technical migration options with application teams and complete data migrations as scheduled.

• Manage VMware vSphere hypervisor support in a highly available virtualized environment.

• Configure and maintain server processes, configurations, backups, platform health, and performance.

• Plan and implement Linux security patching, infrastructure changes, and production releases.

• Automate processes, track issues, document changes, and maintain CMDB/server inventory accuracy.

• Provide 24x7 support, participate in on-call rotation, and perform after-hours maintenance and deployments.

Sr Linux Systems Administrator Required Qualifications

• Senior-level Unix/Linux expertise.

• Bachelor s Degree (Computer Science or related field) and 5-7 years relevant experience (IT infrastructure support, application support, cloud computing, disaster/recovery) or 6-9 years of relevant work experience.

• Demonstrated proficiency in at least one operational domain such as storage, compute, database, collaboration, application support, cloud hosting and related technologies.

• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. to rack servers with assistance/server lifts as needed.

• Ability to travel domestically.

• 24/7 on-call rotational duties.

Sr Linux Systems Administrator Preferred Qualifications

• Enterprise Fortune 200 500 environment experience preferred; non-government backgrounds preferred.

• Fortune 500 financial services or large-volume System Administration experience strongly preferred.

• Experience administrating physical/virtual on-prem servers and Microsoft Azure and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.

• Experience with Oracle Enterprise Linux, Solaris, Exadata hardware helpful.

• Experience with scripting language such as Python, Shell.

• Zerto experience.

• Certifications such as Azure Administrator, Oracle Cloud Administrator, VMware, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server preferred.

• Demonstrated ability with knowledge in current versions of VMware hypervisor technology.

• Working level knowledge: Backups, RAID, SAN, and NAS storage.

• Excellent communications skills - Able to effectively communicate highly technical information in non-technical terminology (written and verbal).

• Makes well-thought-out decisions on complex or ambiguous issues.

• Understanding of change management principles associated with sustaining high availability of systems and preventing change related incidents due to human performance factors.

• Takes good directions from Team Leads and Manager in performing required work.

• Independence level: works under supervision of Team Leads and/or Manager.
