Job Details

Position Summary
We are seeking a Hydraulics (Fluids) Engineer to support the design, development, and integration of fluid power systems within custom automated test equipment and industrial systems. This role will focus on hydraulic system design, component selection, and performance validation, working closely with controls, electrical, and mechanical teams to deliver fully integrated solutions.

The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and experienced in designing and troubleshooting hydraulic systems in a test or automation environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop hydraulic and fluid power systems for automated test equipment and industrial applications
  • Size and select components including pumps, valves, actuators, accumulators, and filtration systems
  • Develop hydraulic schematics, P&IDs, and supporting documentation
  • Perform system calculations including flow, pressure, heat load, and efficiency
  • Integrate hydraulic systems with PLC-controlled automation and instrumentation
  • Support system assembly, debugging, and validation testing (FAT/SAT)
  • Troubleshoot hydraulic systems, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions
  • Collaborate with controls, electrical, and mechanical engineers on system design and integration
  • Interface with vendors and customers to ensure system performance and requirements are met
  • Ensure compliance with applicable safety and industry standards

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Fluid Power, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3+ years of experience in hydraulic system design or fluid power engineering
  • Strong understanding of fluid dynamics, pressure/flow relationships, and hydraulic circuits
  • Experience with hydraulic component sizing and selection
  • Ability to read and create hydraulic schematics and P&IDs
  • Hands-on troubleshooting experience with hydraulic systems

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with automated test systems or industrial automation
  • Familiarity with PLC-controlled hydraulic systems (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.)
  • Knowledge of electro-hydraulic control systems and proportional valves
  • Experience with simulation/analysis tools (e.g., MATLAB, Simulink, Automation Studio)
  • Understanding of thermal management and fluid conditioning
  • Experience with industry standards (NFPA, ISO, ANSI fluid power standards)
