Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Geology, Chemistry, Hydrogeology, Biology or related field.

The Hydrogeologist performs chemical and physical analyses of water samples using qualitative and quantitative procedures; determines water quality characteristics including source of nutrients and presence of pollutants; prepares laboratory reports of results and findings, conducts field and laboratory analyses to determine geohydrologic factors related to land and subsurface disposal and storage of liquid and solid waste; studies animal and plant life as they affect and are affected by sediment and dissolved materials in natural water.
Additionally, incumbents in this role participate in studies concerning chemical and physical interactions between the surface and groundwater, the relationship between water quality characteristics and environmental factors, and the effects of natural and induced phenomena on groundwater systems. Additional responsibilities entail preparing chemical reagents for field studies and laboratory analyses, maintaining inventory of laboratory equipment and supplies; maintaining sample logs and compiling statistical data.
