Job Duties

• Evaluate patients' dental health and requirements through screening methods, including reviewing medical history, performing dental and periodontal charting
• Provide direct patient care following standard dental hygiene protocols
• Measure and record patient vital signs
• Conduct standard treatments like prophylaxis and polishing
• Capture diagnostic radiographs as needed by the dentist
• Administer sealants and fluoride treatments
• Maintain electronic patient records
• Document dental history and primary concerns
• Note and communicate relevant clinical findings
• Educate patients on preventing caries and periodontal disease via nutrition and home care routines
• Clean and sterilize dental instruments
• Prepare treatment plans as directed by the dentist
• Discuss treatment plans and related costs with patients
• Relay patient questions or issues to the dentist
• Serve as lead treatment coordinator
• Perform additional tasks as required

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be dependable
• Graduate of an accredited dental hygiene certificate or associate degree program with active North Carolina hygienist license
• Capable of independent decision-making and sound judgment
• Able to develop, apply, and adapt operational procedures
• Demonstrates collaborative team orientation
• Shows initiative, reliability, and punctuality
• Handles repetitive tasks with strong attention to detail
• Adapts flexibly to varying assignments with a positive attitude
• Follows directions and owns personal performance
• Maintains strict patient confidentiality
• Comprehends safety guidelines, procedure manuals, and written communication
• Interprets instructions in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule formats
