D1 Training Wake Forest is looking for a passionate, knowledgeable, and high-energy HYROX Coach to help lead the growth of our HYROX and hybrid-performance training program.
We're looking for someone who understands that HYROX requires more than just running or strength training. Successful HYROX athletes need a combination of strength, endurance, power, conditioning, running efficiency, movement quality, and mental toughness.
The ideal candidate has experience competing in or coaching HYROX, hybrid training, functional fitness, endurance training, strength & conditioning, or a similar performance-focused environment.

D1 Training is an athletic-based group training facility serving youth athletes ages 7+ and adults. Our mission is to provide a world-class fitness facility and programming to our athletes.

As a HYROX Coach, you'll have the opportunity to work with athletes ranging from beginners preparing for their first HYROX event to experienced competitors looking to improve their performance.
JOB SUMMARY
The HYROX Coach will be responsible for delivering an exceptional training experience while helping athletes develop the physical and mental qualities necessary to perform their best in HYROX and hybrid competitions.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead HYROX-focused group training sessions
- Coach athletes through running, strength, conditioning, and HYROX-specific movements
- Develop athletes' strength and endurance simultaneously
- Teach proper technique and movement mechanics
- Help athletes improve running efficiency and conditioning
- Coach workouts that replicate the demands of HYROX competition
- Modify and scale workouts based on individual fitness levels, experience, and limitations
- Prepare athletes for HYROX race demands, including working under fatigue and transitioning between running and functional stations
- Help athletes establish measurable performance goals
- Track athlete progress and provide ongoing feedback
- Create a positive, competitive, and motivating training environment
- Build strong relationships with members and maximize client retention
- Provide coaching around training, recovery, nutrition, and accountability within the coach's scope of practice
- Maintain a high level of energy and professionalism in every session
HYROX-SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE
The ideal coach should understand how to train athletes across the major demands of HYROX, including:
- Running performance
- Aerobic capacity
- Anaerobic conditioning
- Strength endurance
- Functional strength
- Power output
- Sled work
- Wall balls
- Farmer's carries
- Sandbag lunges
- Rowing
- SkiErg
- Burpee broad jumps
- Workout transitions
- Pacing and race strategy
- Performing under accumulated fatigue
The coach should be able to scale and progress workouts appropriately for athletes at different levels while maintaining the intent of the programming.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
We're looking for someone who:
- Is genuinely passionate about HYROX and hybrid performance
- Has competed in HYROX or has significant experience training for HYROX
- Understands the balance between strength and endurance training
- Can confidently coach both running and functional strength movements
- Brings high energy and enthusiasm to every session
- Has strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Can motivate athletes of varying experience levels
- Is comfortable coaching both beginners and advanced athletes
- Understands proper movement mechanics and injury-risk reduction
- Is highly organized and dependable
- Takes ownership of the athlete experience
- Wants to grow with a rapidly expanding facility
- Is interested in helping build and grow a HYROX community at D1 Training Wake Forest
HYROX competition experience is strongly preferred.
D1 COACH EXPECTATIONS
A D1 Coach must be dedicated to improving the lives and performance of our members by:

- Starting and finishing workouts on time
- Building and maintaining relationships with members
- Assessing athletes and helping align them with the appropriate training
- Coaching group workouts and personal training

- Creating an environment where athletes want to come back and get better
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Current CPR/AED/First Aid certification
- At least one valid NCCA-accredited certification
- Minimum of 1 year of strength & conditioning, personal training, group training, or related coaching experience
Preferred:
- HYROX competition experience
- HYROX coaching experience
- Experience programming hybrid or endurance-based training
- Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or related field
- Experience coaching running, functional fitness, or strength & conditioning
- Experience working with athletes preparing for competitive events
