Description

Job Title: I&C Design Engineer Lead
Location: Bellevue, WA
Type: Long-term Contract
Work Model: Remote

Responsibilities:

  • Provide system design, prototype development, testing, and integration for Sodium Fast Reactor technologies.
  • Interface with multidisciplinary teams, both internal and external, to develop supporting design documentation.
  • Develop and review system- and component-level specifications, ensuring compliance with nuclear codes, standards, licensing, and NRC regulations.
  • Specify instrumentation measurement techniques for sodium fast reactors and energy storage technologies, analyzing measurement range, response time, and accuracy.
  • Create and manage detailed technical design documents and generate comprehensive design packages including P&IDs, control system architecture, and instrument installation drawings.
  • Provide technical oversight of supplier projects, ensuring deliverables meet requirements and coordinating technical reviews.
  • Support licensing activities related to Safety Analysis Reports and assist with planning for established systems and components.
  • Analyze design changes and their impacts, applying change control principles throughout processes.
  • Lead the design of I&C and supporting electrical systems from requirements through final design, providing technical guidance to team members.
Requirements:
  • B.S. or higher in Controls, Electrical, or related discipline from an accredited university with 10+ years of experience in instrumentation and control systems.
  • Proven experience in developing, diagnostics, and delivering industrial I&C platforms.
  • Experience with nuclear reactor safety systems or nuclear instrumentation design is desired but not required.
  • Familiarity with IEEE and IEC standards is desired but not required.
  • Knowledge of nuclear power plant quality assurance standards (e.g., 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, ASME NQA-1) is preferred.
  • Experience designing high-temperature processes (>400°C) and working with industrial process diagrams (PFD, P&ID) is desired.
  • Proficiency with CAD software such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks is preferred.
  • Excellent communication, technical writing, and presentation skills with attention to detail.
  • Self-starter with the ability to lead and coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience with system startup testing procedures is a plus.
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks and foster teamwork while adhering to safety and quality standards.
