Johnson Service Group (JSG) is a Tier 1 vendor for the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), and we are recruiting for an experienced Engineer with an
Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) background, for a 22-month contract assignment providing engineering coordination on new gas plant builds across the Tennessee Valley.
W2 Hourly Rate: $80.00/hour (time and a half for overtime)
Proposed start date: 11/03/2026
Proposed end date: 09/29/2028
Project Base Location: Chattanooga, TN 37402
Candidate Location: Local or Regional candidates highly preferredCitizenship: U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident (Green Card) is required.
Summary:
General expectations are for work to occur at the TVA Chattanooga offices or project site(s) most weeks with some time at vendor facilities as well. Depending on the candidates home location there may be opportunities to work at other TVA facilities or remotely to a small extent. 30-40% travel is anticipated.
Responsibilities: - Ensuring EPC contractors and OEMs perform work to TVAs standards and contract requirements for electrical and I&C scopes primarily.
- Supporting resolution of project technical issues between multiple parties.
- Performing site walk downs and factory acceptance testing verifications.
- Coordinating communications on project issues to TVA project team, contractors, and TVA management as needed.
- Development and updating technical specifications.
- Capturing lessons learned and instituting best practices.
- Must be able to interpret, adapt and apply engineering standards, principles, and techniques to problems and issues involving real time computer/control systems, including digital control systems, that are unique and precedent setting and for which procedural guidance is not available.
Education / Experience:- Bachelor of Science in electrical, mechanical, nuclear, or chemical engineering.
- Professional engineering license and membership in a professional engineering society is desirable.
- 5+ years of power plant experience is required (gas plant experience preferred).
- Power Plant Commissioning experience would be beneficial.
- Demonstrated proficiency in independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation of engineering methods/procedures to resolve complex engineering problems.
- Must be able and willing to travel to plant locations as required when performing assigned tasks and, as necessary, to be temporarily assigned to a field location.
